The Network welcomes our member organizations to join us for a two-part virtual training: “Best Practices for Orders of Protection.”

This two-day training will take place on November 5 from 2-4 p.m. and November 6, 2-4 p.m. and will cover, in detail, best practices for assisting survivors who are filing for an Emergency Order of Protection (EOP).

Part 1: November 5 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The role of an advocate when assisting with an Order of Protection (OP)
The Illinois Domestic Violence Act and why it’s foundational to doing OPs
What survivors need to know before they file
Every document you need to file
Step-by-step instructions on filling out the forms

Part 2: November 6 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Writing an effective affidavit
Step-by-step instructions on filling out the forms, continued
Preparing the survivor for the hearing
After the hearing: Service, enforcement, and safety planning

A Zoom link will be provided the day before training begins. If you have questions you would like to submit beforehand, please email them to Megan Merrill at mmerrill@the-network.org before Friday October 18.

If you need ICDVP CEUs, please indicate it clearly in your registration, and later in your evaluation. Please click here for our CEU issuance policy; this is an important document for you to review if you are requesting CEUs. This training will give 2 CEUs for ICDVP and/or social work for each training in this series at no cost to member organization staff. Please note that it will take 3 weeks from completion of the training to issue CEU certificates.
