Crime Free and Nuisance Ordinances ("CFOs") are laws that penalize landlords and tenants for calling for emergency services or for police activity at a property. CFOs are prevalent in Cook County and Illinois, and often put survivors in a position of choosing between their housing and their safety--even when they are the victim of violence or called the police for assistance. Join us to learn more about how CFOs affect survivors of gender-based violence and state and federal laws that protect survivors from being forced out of their home if they need emergency or police assistance.
