Importance of Language Access for DV survivors
With over 1,000,000 residents considered as limited-English proficient in Illinois, service providers face the unprecedented challenge of assisting victims and survivors and building bridges into communities with limited English proficiency (LEP). On any given day, you may need the ability to communicate and n languages such as: Spanish, French, Gujarati Arabic, Polish, Vietnamese, or Urdu. Many victims and survivors with LEP are unable to seek help due to language barriers.
This webinar by Asian Pacific Institute on GBV and The Network will provide; an overview of language access requirements as federal fund recipients; considerations when developing a language access plan, and providing trauma informed interpretation services.
This training is free and virtual. CEUs for Social Work and ICDVP will be given.
Thank you.
